Albuquerque Trip Report

11.21 arrived in ABQ, tired, sleep, Lucy welcomed me with a screaming Auntie Lorelai and mad sprint toward me. Lucy is the sweetest. I wished I had a video camera. Homecooked meal by mom. Went to Costco. Went to the mall. Did a carousel ride. Adults didn't get to ride, oh well:(.

11.22 BioPark(Rio Grande Zoo, Albquerque Aquarium). The zoo was not the most animal friendly zoo. There was a lot of debris/construction around the park. The spaces were small. I have mix feelings about zoos. It's great to see animals live, but ultimately they are in cages, in prison. We saw a lot of animal poop and gorillas eating their poop. Ugh! We were there from 10am - 5pm(closing time). Lucy and Jack didn't complain. Lucy said a few times she wanted to go home, but overall, no fits, just lots of walking. I was starved since I couldn't eat the lunch. The burrito I ordered was drenched in cheddar cheese. No cheese was on the menu, next time I need to remember, when in doubt check.

Picked up my race bib at Fleet Feet. Thank goodness I wasn't running a marathon the next day. My feet were tired.

11.23 Woke up around 7:30am, had a banana, ran in the race, family came out to cheer
showered, ate a cold Thanksgiving lunch, still good. One of my cousin's called. We thought it was an emergency since he never calls, but he called to wish us Happy Thanksgiving. How thoughtful!

Played at nearby park, at Thanksgiving dinner. Ate too much:)

11.24 Took family to airport. Came home, took another stroll. Had lunch at a Brazillan Grill. Ate too much again:).

11.25 got up at 5am, ate banana, and oatmeal, get ready for my long run, ran, showered
left for Santa Fe around 12:30pm, lunch in Santa Fe at Ore House, liked the Yucatan tacos

went to Georgia O' Keeffe museum interesting documentary at the museum

11.26 met runliarun at Borders, went to church at Hoffmantown Church, it's a megachurch, lunch at China Star, ate too much food again, took a 20min stroll around neighborhood, came home, finish postcard, and left for airport

Thanksgiving!

I'm heading off to Albuquerque in about 6 hours to visit my folks for Thanksgiving. I just got done with packing. I finished packing in under 3 hours. I'm a slow packer. I'm obsessed with ziplock bags:). I put all my toiletries in individual ziplock bags. I've had some nasty leaking liquid experience before, so try to avoid that at all costs, which mostly means a lack of sleep:(. I'm sure I'll just conk out before the plane takes off. I have a good 2 hours to nap. Luke is kind enough to get up at 5am to take me to the airport. He is too nice:). Lucy and Jack will be there. I look forward to spending time with my niece and nephew. They are too cute! Other than that I'm planning to run 2 or 3 times while I'm there. Hopefully, it'll be drama-less and relaxing weekend. I'll have to remember to pack a book. I'm still reading Why do I love these People? by Po Bronson. Or I can I bring Barak Obama's memoir.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I like the gathering of family in the fall weather/colors. I haven't been to Albuquerque in the fall season or at least I don't remember doing so. I've only been there a few times.

Better get to sleep. I have to get up early and finishing packing. I bought all this Chinese baked goods and veggies for my sister and parents. They are in the fride and freezer right now. Hmm...if I remember I'll take a picture of my luggage of food in the morning. It's pretty funny:).

Give thanks!

New York

Luke and I spent 5 days and 4 nights in New York. This is my 6th time in NYC.
1984?, summer road trip with my uncle, went to the Bronx Zoo and had Chinese food in Flushing
1992, Jan with college friends
1994 or 95, Sept with friend from college, stayed in Queens
2001, Nov visited friend, who lived in Washington Heights in Manhattan, fall foliage tour
2004, April attended wedding of friend, went to Empire State building
2006, Nov with Luke

New York is a city. It's so raw, so urban. I love the bricks. I love the nippy cold weather in the morning. I love the New York subway system. Luke and I walked around a lot. We did a lot of tourist things. We saw Avenue Q. It was hilarious. We had good food and some really bad food. I wish I took more pictures. Walking in Central Park was my favorite part of the trip. The leaves were changing colors. It was beautiful!

Photos on New York. Will do trip report here later this week:
