new year's eve day recap

Luke and I had a very relaxing a full day on New Year's Eve. We had breakfast at La Note. It's one of our favorite breakfast places. The places feels like a real French cafe, especially when the hostess or servers are French.

Then we packed a picnic lunch from Trader Joe's. I love TJ's and Luke discovered how cheap everything is at TJ's. Of course, they don't always have the produce you are looking for, but great selection for picnics. Then off we went to Bolinas. We read that Bolinas is not tourist friendly. I kind of felt it. It's a pretty secluded town. We walked along the beach a bit. It was chilly and there was a crazy drunk guy yellin g and cursing. I couldn't tell if he was really drunk, but he acted like it. Despite the crazy guy, we had a nice walk along the lagoon and walked around the downtown area. Hmm...I didn't take enough much to get a real sense of the town. It really felt like a small town in the country.

Then we headed for Point Reyes Station for our picnic lunch around 3:30pm. It was cold. I had my fleece cap that Luke so kindly gave me. We walked around Point Reyes Station and spent a good amount of time at the local bookstore. We still had about 2hr or so before our dinner reservation in Sausalito. On our drive to Sausalito, I fell asleep. I am definitely not a New Year's Eve Party girl:). We had dinner at Cacciucco. A very elegant Italian restaurant in Sausalito. Picture of my last meal for 2006.

Then we went to see a movie, Curse of the Golden Flower. Ah, I forgot we stopped at Starbucks before dinner. I had a white chocolate mocha to help keep me awake. Then we sat in the car along the water to see the fireworks at midnight from the Embarcadero. We had a very full and relaxing New Year's Eve, thanks to Luke, the bestest"!!
